SCRIPTURE AND MUSIC TO CELEBRATE THE RESURRECTION

There are some days when I long for home (heaven) more than others. I have been struggling with a great deal of back pain the last few weeks, and many of these days have caused me to long for release from this pain. Even though I struggle here below, I rejoice that because Christ now lives and sits at the right hand of the Father, that I too, will one day possess a redeemed and resurrected body when that time comes and God calls me home, either in death and the resurrection of the dead, or when the trumpet sounds if I am still alive, to meet Him in the air. Here are a few passages of scripture that have given me great comfort during difficult days. I praise God that since Christ was raised from the dead and given an incorruptible body, so too shall I, on that great day!

Oh that my words were now written!

Oh that they were printed in a book!
That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
FOR I KNOW THAT MY REDEEMER LIVETH
AND THAT HE SHALL STAND
AT THE LATTER DAY UPON THE EARTH:

And though after my skin worms destroy this body,
yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold,
and not another;
though my reins be consumed within me.
Job 19:23-27

Beloved, now are we the sons of God,
and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him;
for we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:2

Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead,
how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain,
and your faith is also vain.
Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God;
because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ:
whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain;
ye are yet in your sins.
Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ,
we are of all men most miserable.
But now is Christ risen from the dead,
and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
For since by man came death,
by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
But every man in his own order:
Christ the firstfruits;
afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up
the kingdom to God, even the Father;
when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
I Corinthians 15:12-26

There are so many wonderful hymns commemorating the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I just had to post a few more songs today. I hope they will bring you comfort and courage in the days to come.

I KNOW MY REDEEMER LIVES

I couldn't resist including this final one. Although this is not the rendition of "O Happy Day!" that I was looking for (the older hymn version, of which I could not locate a good video), I couldn't resist adding this final one.

Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, 'OUT OF THE MOUTH OF INFANTS AND NURSING BABIES YOU HAVE PREPARED PRAISE FOR YOURSELF'?" Matt. 21:16b

Thank you for sharing these, Bonnie. I prefer hymns to CCM anytime and these are simply beautiful, with some of them favorites of mine as well!

God bless, and Shalom!
